Arrived in Jaisalmer - My goodness escaping Delhi was good but we landed right back into another scrum in Varanasi. There are so many people, our car moves at a maximum speed of 10mph which is sustained for approximately 10 seconds before encountering another human or animal obstruction. The streets of the old town are tight and winding. Much like Delhi there is a crumbling decadence about all the buildings. And dogs, goats, monkeys and cows are everywhere!

Memories of Jaisalmer - My memories of Jaisalmer aren't of its over-crowded nature, animals rampaging through the streets, funeral pires, people bathing in the Ganga, the various Hindu temples or any of the "spiritualism" of the place - because frankly it's all a bit hard to discern amidst a sea of crooks and touts - it is the thousands of children flying kites from their roof-tops in the evening. It ranks among one of the most magical sights I have ever witnessed.

The Taj itself - Here is the building itself. We sat on a bench for a good few hours looking at the building and doing a good amount of people watching. We have the luxery of staying the night so don't need to rush around like maniacs snapping picture after picture.

Jama Maslid - We visited what is described as the biggest and most beautiful mosque is India. Created by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1650. It was open to the elements and was in a slightly weathered condition but a very impressive, spiritual place. We had previously seen it from above when touring the roof-tops of Old Delhi.

Old Delhi Spice market

Old Delhi Spice market - This grand old building houses the Old Delhi wholesale spice traders. We climbed up a few flights of grubby, dark stairs and emerged onto the a wonderful city vista. From the roof here we could see the old Red Fort, CP and a whole load of people buying their spices and tiffin tins.

First Tuk Tuk - For £1 we travelled for about 30 minutes across Delhi to Dilli Haat market, an arts and crafts market. And he threw in an audio commentary as we went along as well.

Indian Adventure 08 - The Indian Adventure starts off with the mundane but altogether necessary purchase of a suitcase-cum-rucksack. Surprisingly it has managed to contain all my gear without even so much as a knee on the top, squeezing the zips ever closer. It weighs a tonne. Next stop, and i can hardly contain myself - London's miserable Heathrow.

Water Cooling - I can't remember why I took this photo, other than my interest in that sort of 60s looking, technical-esque drawing style. How it "qualifies" to be presented as art (again in MoMA) slightly mystifies me. It seems more at home in a Science museum.

Fibonacci series - This piece of work at MoMA describes the relationship between mathematics and nature in its depiction of the Fibonacci series. Apparently you can see this mathematical pattern in things like flower petals, tree branches and suchlike.

Something good on the Southbank - The Southbank on the weekend probably isn't a place I like to find myself. Why tourists stand around a statue all decked in gold to watch it occassionally move is beyond me - they are not exactly what you might consider one of London's best sights. Gormley's cast iron figurines which recently graced the skyline seemed wonderfully mocking of all this nonsense. However this little gem down on one of the capital's beach-fronts is worthy of a mention and probably a handful of shrapnel.
