3 people prance

dots
3 people prance - You know how it is. You pay 12 quid for the cinema these days, for the privilege of sitting on some crap stadium-like, vacuum-moulded seat and have to deal with the popcorn munching chatterbox sitting right in front to you. If you're even more unlucky, you'll be able to hear the movie next door because the cheap gits haven't got proper sound insulation ! Well for about that price, I got to see three fellas prance on stage for an hour, listen to the London Philharmonic "go to the Movies", and then sit down to watch Ferris Bueller. There's no better way to spend a Sunday.

the sad robot in Brick Lane

dots
the sad robot in Brick Lane - While walking down Brick Lane seeking out a curry house which didnt have an army of "persuaders" outside, I spotted a larger version of the sad robot!

Someone stole the Cisco logo

dots
Someone stole the Cisco logo - Having a bit of a "image-sensitive" eye, I found myself sitting near a bus stop quizzically peering over at this billboard. It suddenly clicked that this logo was pretty much the same as Cisco's. So... err.. there!

the urban fox

dots
the urban fox - A fox, which can be but a baby, walks within a a hare's breath of where we were sitting. He... or she, I'm no zoologist, had the most villainous red eyes. Despite this the adorable rat-like dog- wolf beast seemed very friendly, inquisitive and ultimately rather Urbanised. In fact to such an extent that he circled around us, took a healthy sniff, and rapidly departed to the undergrowth. You could see a lot of likenesses with your typical Sloane-ranger.

the political protesters return

dots
the political protesters return - Working as I do for a broadcaster with a trans-national presence, we are often picketed by various pressure groups. Today these people were trying to raise the media profile of political campaigners and 'dissidents' imprisoned in Iran. There was actually quite a low turnout compared to other protests I've seen staged here.

Steve-o and birthday Phil

dots
Steve-o and birthday Phil - The boys relax on the Queen Mary moored outside the Savoy on Embankment. A good quantity of this summer's favourite tipple Corona, was about to be liberally poured down our collective gullets. Steve-o was enjoying the birthday cake so much, he licked all the sugary goodness straight from Phil's hand (pictured).

a marvellous Sunday tea time...

dots
a marvellous Sunday tea time... - spent reading a book* in an abandoned London park, while the sun gradually beats a retreat to its home beneath the railway tracks over to my left.

*it's entitled The Last Party. Britpop, Blair and the demise of English rock.

the graffiti train again!

dots
the graffiti train again! - Seems South West Trains just can't bear to get rid of their graffiti train - which is a good thing because it looks so damn cool.

millennium park concert hall

dots
millennium park concert hall - This huge, open-air concert hall in Chicago is just fabulous. The lattice work traverses the entire venue, the crisscrossing of the huge tubular structure only serving to give a feeling of envelopment - as if the outside is trapped at the skeleton boundary. The acoustics too, are phenomenal.

she tried to write 'Camille'

dots
she tried to write 'Camille' - A slow learner I guess. But minutes of amusement with sparklers nonetheless.

then came a Massive Attack

dots
Then came a Massive Attack - Hugely disappointing as the sound system was, Massive Attack still impressed at the Wireless Festival. Even though we were a country mile from the stage (because Shadow played for an additional 25 minutes!), there was a tower of speakers right next to us which were not even switched on.

it's DJ Shadow !

dots
it's DJ Shadow ! - Entroducing, the Shadow. Puts a smile on your face like Ultrabrite. And what a show, especially the classic finale - Organ Donor.
