Hoi An - The river bank in Hoi An which a flood has left slightly worse for wear. A very pretty village however and a ridiculous amount of tailoring. It was apparently once a major trading port for the Chinese which has clearly influenced the architecture of the sleepy town.

War remnents museum - Planes, choppers, tanks and all sorts of other battlements adorn the War Remnents museum in Ho Chi Minh. It's an interesting take on the war from the Vietnamese perspective. America is, painted, unsurprisingly as very much the imperialist aggressors unjustly supporting French-backed rule which escalated to all out war. The carpet bombing, agent orange, napalm and phosphorous attacks are portrayed as bring particularly indescriminate - and also genocidal.

Ho Chi Minh / Vietnam - Finally! A comfortable transfer to another city. We decided to avoid more river boats or dubious trains and instead use the humble bus. Other than the screening of Dead or Alive in Khamer with the volume set to 11 and only a single voice doing the dubbing, it was a rapid and relaxing journey. Ho Chi Minh is madness. There are so many scooters flying around the city. Many of them using the pavements because the roads are blocked ahead. Here is a picture of the fish we ordered in the market. It came standing on end with a rather crispy coating. Very good.

S-21 - Our guide around the notorious Khamer Rouge torture prision S-21 explained how her father, brother and cousins had perished at the hands of the barbaric regime but that she didn't actually know how or where they had died. She had fled to Vietnam with her mother and later returned. What I didn't realise is that relatively high ranking members of regime are still in government to this day, something she found hard to talk about. It seems the UN supported genocide trials have only recently begun as late as 2007. This place was scary - the KR were meticulous record keepers. They took photos before and after torture which were carefully kept with the interrogation notes.
